Well, after having a slow week last week, it was back on the horse this week. As I alluded too in my last post, I've been having some problems with my ITB (Iliotibial Band). It runs down the side of your leg at the hip and connects to the knee. Years ago when I ran my last marathon, I had problems at the hip end. This time around, I'm having problems and the knee end. During my last two long runs (7 and 13) I felt a sharp pain on the side of my knee causing me to stop running for a bit. I incorporated some new stretches, icing, ibuprofin, and changing up my weekly workout. That seems to have done the trick as my 15 miler went off pretty well today. But boy was it cold!! 0 degrees at the start and around 17 degrees when I finished.
I had been running 4 times during the week with 1-2 cross training days depending on my schedule (usually weights combined with biking or the elliptical trainer). Because of my knee issues I'll be cutting out one running day and replacing it with another cross training day. I've worked out the details with my coach and this should still increase my level of fitness.
Even with the extra cross training day this week, I still managed a pretty good week. 2 cross training days and three running days (5,7, and 15 miles) for a weekly total of 27 miles. I stepped on the scale last week as well and I am down 14 lbs. overall.
Thanks again for following the posts and don't forget to vote in polls I put up. They don't really mean anything just some extra fun for the blog.
Also don't forget to donate as I am doing this for a good cause and we're getting pretty close to race time.

Awesome, Wayde. I'm glad to hear that you've found a solution for your ITB/knee issue. Race day will be here before you know it!
