Another week of training is behind me. And thank god it is!! I had one treadmill workout, a brutal run in 0 degree weather, a challenging hill repeat workout and a group run with the Dana Farber Team of 12 miles. Those group runs are a great thing. They have water stops set up for the runners, some food afterwards, and you get to meet the other maniacs running 26 miles. The other advantage was I got my first tast of the marathon course. I was on the course for about 4 miles. Part of our route took us through the Newton Hills. (Heartbreak Hill). Heartbreak hill isn't just one hill but a series of 3 hills culminating with a pretty brutal up hill. That has certainly gotten me more motivated to keep the hill workouts in as a regular part of my training.
So the week ended up pretty good at 25 miles total and a long run of 12 miles. Next week should be pretty similar to this and then I need to come down on the mileage a bit as I have a 15K race.
