It's hard to believe

Yes its true, I'm running the Boston Marathon in 2009! I'm running for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute team. I know its hard to believe. It's not very often people come up to me and say "Hey, you look like a runner!" But in truth, I've run three marathons to date. Well actually two. I ran the Maine Marathon in 2002 and the Vermont City Marathon in 2002. I was training to run Disney in 2003 but two weeks before the race I was injured and not able to run. For those of you who have run marathons before, the TRAINING can be more difficult than the actual race. So I can almost count this as one but I'm stretching it a bit.

Then in 2003, I started working for Tektronix as a Sr. Account Manager and my youngest daughter Paige was born. Those two events really took me out of the running world. So I've been trying to get motivated to run another marathon for the last year or two without much success. So I applied to run for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute Team this year and pledged to raise $6,000. I figure that should be enough motivation!

I hope to update the blog often and will keep everyone up to date on training progress, weight loss, etc.

I've been pretty active since this summer when I was the heaviest I had been in my life. I started out at 220 lbs. As of last week, I was down to 210 lbs. I'd like to be around 190lbs at the marathon so we'll see what happens.

My runs this week were a 4, 5, and 6 mile run. It was pretty rainy here all week so two of the three runs were in the rain. It's not bad running in the rain as long as it starts raining DURING the run. I really hate starting the run WHEN its raining.

I'll update this as often as I can and thanks for your help!
