Well, I have now run the first 16 miles of the marathon course. So the only pieces I haven't run are from mile 16 to mile 16.5 and from mile 25 to mile 26.2. Not to shabby, only 1.7 miles of the 26.2 that I haven't run yet. Hard to believe the race will be here in about 6 weeks. For my final run in about 3 weeks I'll be running the first 21 miles of the race. That should prove interesting!
The week was pretty good with runs of 3, 4, and 5 miles plus the 16 today. The mileage was lower than I would like it but it is what it is.
During my 16 mile run today it occured to me I need to make some changes over the next 6 weeks. While you can get away with improper diet and a few cigars during the first half of the training, in this final stretch every little thing adds up on these long runs. So, no more cigars until the race is done, and I'll be watching my diet very closely over the next few weeks. More fruits and vegetables to be sure, less red meat, more fish, etc.
I'm also getting down to the wire on donations as well so if you haven't donated yet, PLEASE do so at www.rundfmc.org/waydem2009.
Thank you all for your support and if you haven't already, sign up to follow this blog so I know people are actually reading this thing.

Good job Wayde - and great photo of you with our great volunteers on the marathon course.
ReplyDeleteCIGARS? - definitely for celebrating AFTER the marathon. And I thought you were already on fish, fruit and veggies - exclusively? :)
Keep up the good work - not far to go now - CU soon!

LOL, caught red handed! I am certainly guilty of enjoying a good cigar! But no more until after the marathon! My diet suffered through my trip to vegas and a very busy work week but now things are back to normal.
